Can Cet, Special Employment Center, celebrates its 30th anniversary with an event dedicated to inclusion, well-being, and social commitment
On May 17, we celebrated the 30th anniversary of Can Cet, Special Employment Center, in a very special way. In a natural setting at the Masia de Vil·la Minerva in Llavaneres, we held a commemorative and festive event attended by more than 120 people, including Can Cet professionals and collaborators, as well as members of the board of trustees and ambassadors of the Can Cet Foundation. We were also honored by the presence of the Director General of Social Economy and Cooperativism of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Mr. David Bonvehí.
Under the slogan “TOGETHER WE MAKE IT POSSIBLE,” the day began with a welcome coffee reception that allowed attendees to mingle before the official program began. Jorge León, president of the Can Cet Foundation and founder of Can Cet, a Special Employment Center, opened the event by welcoming the attendees and highlighting the history of an organization that, for three decades, has been working to create employment opportunities and improve the quality of life for people with functional diversity.
One of the highlights of the day was the masterclass led by Buddhist nun Guen Kelsang Lochani, a resident teacher at the Kadampa Meditation Center in Barcelona and a biology graduate. During her talk, the teacher of Modern Kadampa Buddhism shared three simple tools to promote emotional well-being and improve mental health, offering practical advice that was especially valuable for an audience consisting mostly of people with disabilities.
Following this inspiring session for all attendees, they were able to enjoy various recreational activities that fostered camaraderie and participation: a fun and original photo booth, the now-traditional group photo, and a performance by magician Alexander Main, who captivated the audience with a show full of humor, audience participation, and surprising tricks.
The celebration continued with a delicious meal that brought all attendees together in a relaxed and festive atmosphere, featuring a raffle and gifts, and where all participants received a bag of Can Cet merchandise as a souvenir.
The official ceremony brought the day to a close with various speeches that reflected a shared commitment to workplace inclusion. David Riba, executive director of Can Cet, Centre Especial de Treball, reiterated the importance of continuing to improve the professional quality of services and emphasized that, thirty years
later, the founding principle of putting people first remains the driving force behind the inclusive project.
For his part, Mr. David Bonvehí reaffirmed the Generalitat de Catalunya’s commitment to social economy initiatives such as Can Cet, Centre Especial de Treball, emphasizing the importance of continuing to promote grants and programs that help consolidate and expand projects that have a positive impact on society.
In an emotional speech, Jorge León highlighted the progress made over these three decades and emphasized the social impact achieved by the organization. Currently, around 400 families depend directly or indirectly on the activities generated by Can Cet, Special Employment Center—a figure that reflects the human and social dimension of the project.
The Can Cet Foundation viewed the joint organization of this event with Can Cet, Special Employment Center, very positively, emphasizing that initiatives like this reinforce shared values of inclusion, participation, and well-being. The organization reaffirmed its commitment to continue promoting projects that contribute to improving the quality of life for people with functional diversity and to building a more inclusive society.
We are pleased to know that, with thirty years of history behind it, Can Cet, Special Employment Center, looks to the future with the same enthusiasm with which it began its journey: creating opportunities, generating quality jobs, and demonstrating every day that inclusion is a source of progress for all of society.
