The Can Cet Foundation, a step forward after a long history caring for people

The Can Cet Foundation was founded in 2021 as a non-profit organisation linked to the Can Cet social enterprise. The Foundation wishes to take a step forward in its commitment to people and to respond to new needs that have been detected to promote overall wellbeing and comprehensive personal development, not just for groups with functional diversity or those at risk of social exclusion, but for society as a whole.

The Can Cet social enterprise

The Can Cet social enterprise was established by Jorge León in 1995 to generate quality opportunities for reintegration into the labour market and successful job placement schemes for the most vulnerable workers and those at risk of social exclusion, especially people with functional diversity and mental health problems.

Since then, Can Cet has worked to find opportunities in the labour market for the most disadvantaged groups, as well as to offer quality services to its clients, becoming a benchmark company in the social and services sector. Can Cet is characterised by its values of responsibility, sustainability and solidarity. The company is a pioneer in implementing the Balance Sheet of the Economy for the Common Good and the Social Balance Sheet with the seal of excellence for Equality from the Government of Spain’s Ministry of Social Rights and Agenda 2030.

A personal experience, the driving force behind the birth of a new Foundation

Mr. Jorge León set up Can Cet, a benchmark company in the social sector, due to an intense motivation to build an organization capable of growing by offering employment to vulnerable people at risk of social exclusion, in particular people with disabilities. This challenge led him to carry out self-taught professional research and introspective work to develop his personal skills and knowledge.

Along the way he understood that, as well as developing management tools, policies and business strategies, receiving training in disciplines for personal wellbeing and self- knowledge is the key to success in any personal project and in living a satisfactory life.

In this search He has followed paths in different disciplines in his search. From 1995 to 1997 he was introduced to individual and group psychotherapy at the “Aula Gestalt” Gestalt Therapy school with Cristina Nadal.

In 1997 he trained in Shaolin internal martial arts with the renowned international grandmaster Wong Kiew Kit, staying for long periods and taking intensive courses in Malaysia, the UK, the USA, Italy, Spain, Germany, Switzerland and Costa Rica, becoming in one of its main students at an international level.

In 2003 he started exploring the teachings of modern Buddhism with the New Kadampa Tradition Buddhism founded by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, with the English monk and teacher Gen Kelsang Tharpa in Madrid. In 2004 he received his 1st initiation directly from his Spiritual Guide, the learned Tibetan monk Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso at the Manjushri Kadampa Meditation Centre in Ulverston (UK). He has been training in the fundamental teachings of Kadampa Buddhism since 2006, and has taken part in the teacher training programme at the Kadampa Meditation Centre in Barcelona since 2016.

Professional and material development, only when accompanied by inner personal development, gives people a feeling of wellbeing and happiness, as well as the fulfilment that arises from understanding the meaning of one’s own life. This understanding has been the engine behind the creation of a new Foundation to promote a sustainable and caring society that empowers people in their professional development and personal growth.

The Can Cet Foundation

The Can Cet Foundation was founded in 2021 as a non-profit organisation to promote personal development and growth in all areas of life, offering particular attention to vulnerable groups and people with functional diversity. It follows the same path as Can Cet, but extends its mission to the general public, including children.

The Foundation has therefore broadened its target audience and approaches people’s care from a holistic point of view. It considers and promotes the development of their spiritual, personal and professional dimensions.

The Can Cet Foundation continues its commitment to labour market inclusion and professional development, taking a step forward and expanding its efforts to help people develop in a global dimension, being aware that a purposeful life is essential for a fulfilling life with good wellbeing, and that being employed is not enough.

To do this, the Can Cet Foundation:

Carries out programmes and projects

to help more vulnerable social groups develop, especially people with functional diversity.

Uses personnel and material resources

to support Spanish and international projects that work to promote meditation as a tool for introspection and spiritual and personal growth.

Contributes to training

for everyone’s professional development.

Promotes new projects

to support entrepreneurs and start-ups with principles that are consistent with those of the Foundation.

Fosters the values

of the Economy for the Common Good in all financial and social relations.

We want to promote, foster and innovate in projects for professional development, personal growth and the spiritual path.
