Through the agreement to support the building of the 6th Temple for World Peace at Spain’s Kadampa Meditation Centre in Malaga, the Can Cet Foundation endowed the New Kadampa Tradition with a financial contribution for the acquisition of furnishings and catering equipment for the main kitchen and the cafeteria of the new temple built in Alhaurín el Grande.

This endowment contributed to the running of spiritual activities and retreats, as well as operating the Peace Café, a space open to all and located on the same site in the main building to the side of the temple.

The first activity organised in the new location was the NKT International Spring Festival, held from 10 to 16 June 2022. Coinciding with the inauguration of the 6th temple, the festival attracted people from all over the world.

Over 2,000 people from five continents therefore enjoyed a special event with meditation sessions and teachings based on Modern Buddhism to help improve their lives and develop their spiritual potential. In addition, all participants were able to share experiences of their personal growth in an international environment where complementary services were offered, such as five culinary traditions, a cafeteria and a shop. In addition, over 2,000 people connected to the event online, also benefiting from Buddhist practice and philosophy.

The impact of the event on the local economy brought revenues of over €1,200,000 to the city of Malaga and the towns of Alhaurín el Grande and Alhaurín de la Torre.

The development of this project is possible thanks to the collaboration agreement between the Can Cet social enterprise and the Can Cet Foundation.
